What Is Workforce Development Funding?

Often, governments will develop workforce development and training programs to incentivize business and industry investment in talent development. These programs lead to strong public-private partnerships focused on achieving positive outcomes for both the business community and individuals.

In order to equip our current and future employees with the skills needed to compete in a global marketplace, Magna is committed to partnering with federal, state, and local governments to develop high-quality training programs. It is important that these programs be well funded. By offsetting training costs, these incentives help Magna divisions train more employees and provide greater opportunities for growth.

How Does It Impact Magna?

Workforce development funding provides benefits to both Magna facilities and our people by increasing skill levels, productivity, and career opportunities. In recent years, Magna divisions have received grants for curriculum development, training materials, instructors, trades certifications and training equipment. This funding helps Magna customize training with highly qualified providers to increase employee skill sets and grow our business from within.

Without training incentives, Magna divisions may be unable to train as many employees or invest in new employees. The future of the automotive industry is technology, and both Magna and its employees must be ready to meet the challenge.

For example, in Michigan, the Going PRO Talent Fund has led to the training of more than 2,000 Magna employees since 2014. Going PRO is one of the most dynamic, demand-driven governmental workforce development programs in the country. Businesses work with government partners and training providers to create and develop training programs that best fit their business and workforce needs. The support of Going PRO gives businesses the confidence to schedule training and commit to talent development.
